Belarus, Russia’s Primorye Territory discuss cooperation plans

MINSK, 1 June (BelTA) - A meeting with Oleg Kozhemyako, Governor of Russia’s Primorye Territory, took place in the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus on 1 June, BelTA has learned.

“During today’s meeting, we thoroughly discussed issues of deepening our bilateral cooperation with Primorye Territory, with whom we have developed friendly relations,” Sergei Aleinik, Chairman of the Standing Commission on International Affairs and National Security of the Council of the Republic, told the media after the meeting. “Over the past few years, our economic interaction has shown positive momentum. Suffice it to say that in the first quarter of 2026, we nearly doubled our trade. We supply a significant amount of Belarusian machinery to this region. Last year, the first multi-brand center for servicing our equipment and training specialists was established. Plans are underway to set up a second center, and a MAZ exhibition and service center is to open by the end of this year. We will continue to strengthen cooperation in the area of industrial cooperation. Significant cooperation is also being carried out via the supply of our agricultural products and food.”

He noted that substantial cooperation is also taking place in terms of supplying Belarusian agricultural products and food. “More than 15 branded stores have been opened in Primorye Territory selling Belarusian products. During the meeting, we received very high praise from the governor for Belarusian products, which enjoy a very high level of trust among the population of Primorye Territory,” Sergei Aleinik said. In addition, Belarus and Primorye Territory are actively cooperating in the areas of culture and education.

The meeting also addressed the implementation of specific projects. “There is an intention to return to implementing a project in the area of dairy farming. There is an understanding of the need to prepare a joint project for the production and processing of poultry meat, which we have agreed to work on, and if possible, to sign specific agreements during the upcoming 13th Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia,” the chairman of the Standing Commission emphasized.

Sergei Aleinik noted that interregional cooperation is one of the priorities of the Council of the Republic’s international activities. “We are advancing issues of developing interregional ties with friendly countries at all levels. The 13th Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia will take place in the near future, which will greatly strengthen our potential in the area of interregional cooperation. This will be backed by specific economic agreements, the signing of a number of bilateral agreements, roadmaps, and projects,” he summarized.
