Belarus-Russia Union State PA to apply for partner status at CSTO PA

MOSCOW, 25 January (BelTA) – An expanded meeting of the Commission on International Affairs, Migration Policy and Relations with Compatriots of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Belarus-Russia Union State will be held in Moscow on 2 February. Taking part in the meeting will be members of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly, BelTA learned from the press service of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State.

“The participants of the meeting will discuss a draft agreement between the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State on granting the latter a partner status at the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly,” the press service said.

“There are plans to discuss the joint actions of Belarus and Russia in the field of foreign policy, the role of parliamentarians in strengthening peace, stability, international and regional security. They will also discuss priorities and current tasks of the chairmanship of the Republic of Belarus in the CSTO,” the press service added.

In addition, the participants of the meeting will also review progress to implement the program of coordinated actions in foreign policy of the Union State members in 2022-2023.

Representatives of the Standing Committee of the Union State, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia are also invited to participate.
