MINSK, 1 June (BelTA) – Belarus’ Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei will visit Russia on 4-5 June to attend the joint session of the foreign ministries of Belarus and Russia, spokesperson for the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dmitry Mironchik told a press briefing on 1 June, BelTA has learned.
“The parties will examine topical issues of cooperation between the two countries on a bilateral basis and in the international arena. Emphasis will be made on the status of implementation of the program of concerted action in foreign policy for 2016-2017 and on the development of a similar program for another two-year period. The session will also discuss the issues of Eurasian integration, including the joint efforts to raise the international status of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU),” Dmitry Mironchik said.
The participants of the session will review the issues of international and regional security, in particular, coordination of approaches to the relations with NATO. In addition, the agenda of the meeting includes a wide range of issues of cultural and humanitarian cooperation.
The ministers are expected to sign a joint statement on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Vladimir Makei and Sergei Lavrov are set to hold a working meeting.
