MOSCOW, 26 June (BelTA) – Belarus and Russia will work together to promote and protect their interests in international financial and economic bodies, BelTA learned from the press service of the Embassy of Belarus in Russia after talks between the Belarusian Foreign Ministry and the Russian Foreign Ministry at the level of department heads in Moscow on 26 June.
According to the source, the sides discussed the present situation regarding the operation of the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development. The sides sketched out joint steps to promote and protect common interests of Belarus and Russia in these international organizations, said the press service. Close attention was paid to the development of BRICS and the invigoration of cooperation between BRICS countries and member states of the Customs Union and the Single Economic Space.
The sides shared views regarding the increase in the role of Belarus and Russia in the reformation and renovation of the operation of leading international economic organizations.
