MINSK, 26 January (BelTA) – Belarus and Russia are interested in exchanging best practices of election campaigns, Chairman of the Central Election Commission of Belarus Igor Karpenko told the media during the panel discussion “The electoral process: experience and development prospects” at the Academy of Public Administration under the aegis of the President of the Republic of Belarus with the participation of a delegation of the Election Commission of Leningrad Oblast of the Russian Federation, BelTA has learned.

The event brought together experts, teachers, and trainees taking advanced training courses in the theory and practice of the electoral process. The parties will exchange experience in election campaigns, discuss problematic issues and ways of their practical solution.

“Earlier we agreed with our Russian counterparts that we will share relevant information, experience and best practices that we have in electoral processes. Today, when we have a delegation from Leningrad Oblast, we use this opportunity to let them meet with the trainees of the courses we have organized for potential participants in electoral processes. These are the people who, as subjects of the electoral processes, make certain decisions: form commissions, organize the polling stations and so on,” said Igor Karpenko.

According to him, Belarus is interested in the experience of the Russian Federation in digitalization of the electoral processes, as well as in information security and safety of the electoral system in general. “That is why we have agreed to hold such a meeting at the Academy of Public Administration in the form of a panel discussion. Our listeners will have an opportunity to ask questions and discuss topics that concern them,” the CEC chairman said.
