Belarus, Russia coordinate preparations for Eurasian Charter talks

MINSK, 10 September (BelTA) - Belarus and Russia held ministerial consultations on Eurasian security and the development of the Eurasian Charter of Diversity and Multipolarity in the 21st Century, BelTA learned from the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
 
The parties reviewed the results of joint work carried out in 2026 to promote the Eurasian Charter concept. The parties discussed preparations for the ministerial meeting to launch the negotiating process on the Charter, which will take place on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York on 25 September 2026, along with the overall organization of the negotiation process.

As part of the consultations, Belarusian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Igor Sekreta met with head of the Russian delegation, Ambassador-at-Large at the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Alexander Trofimov. Igor Sekreta gave an overall positive assessment of Belarus-Russia cooperation in promoting the Belarusian initiative since it was put forward in 2023 and made a number of proposals for discussion during the meeting.
