MINSK, 31 March (BelTA) – Cooperation between Belarus and Russia is based on respect and mutual support. Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko made the statement in his Address to the nation and the parliament on 31 March, BelTA has learned.

Aleksandr Lukashenko said: “At the top level cooperation between Belarus and Russia is based on respect and mutual support. We have no closed topics for discussion.”

The Belarus president remarked that cooperation with the Russian Federation is comprehensive and versatile. “We have built quite an effective model of interstate relations. The construction of the Union State of Belarus and Russia is in the center of the model. The experience of our integration is now used as an example for other similar structures in the post-Soviet space. But this is only the beginning!” he stressed.

According to Aleksandr Lukashenko, it is the construction of the Union State of Belarus and Russia that has contributed to resolving very complicated social and economic problems and has allowed the two countries to enable conditions for sustainable growth of economies. It also helped them increase trade turnover, successfully coordinate foreign policies, enhance the defensive capacity, and preserve the common social and humanitarian space.
