Belarus, Romania eager to enhance parliamentary cooperation

MINSK, 30 December (BelTA) – Belarus and Romania are eager to enhance parliamentary cooperation. The issue was discussed at the meeting of Chairman of the Permanent Commission for International Affairs of the House of Representatives Valery Voronetsky with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Romania to Belarus Viorel Mosanu on 29 December, BelTA has learned.

Partaking in the meeting was member of the House of Representatives, member of the working group for cooperation with the parliament of Romania of the National Assembly Mikhail Milovanov. The meeting focused on a wide range of issues. The sides discussed the enhancement of cooperation in trade, economy, science, technology, and the humanitarian field. Special attention was drawn to the development of parliamentary dialogue, interaction in international parliamentary organizations, including the participation in the 26th annual session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly in Minsk on 5-9 July 2017.

Valery Voronetsky mentioned the positive dynamics of Belarus-Romania cooperation. He congratulated the Romanian side on the successful parliamentary election in December 2016 and spoke in favor of the enhancement of parliamentary cooperation, including within the framework of the parliamentary groups of friendship, permanent commissions for international affairs, the exchange of visits of parliamentary delegations. The formation of the working group for cooperation with Romanian colleagues is in progress.

Viorel Mosanu, in turn, reminded about the visit of the Romanian parliamentary delegation to Belarus in April 2016. He emphasized that it was an important step in the development of parliamentary relations. The Ambassador also expressed hope for the visit of Belarusian MPs to Romania.
