Belarus’ resolution on digital economy added to agenda of OSCE PA session in Berlin

MINSK, 8 July (BelTA) – Belarus’ resolution on digital economy has been upheld by the Standing Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE PA) and included into the agenda of the 27th annual session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly in Berlin, BelTA learned from the press service of the House of Representatives.

Belarus’ delegation is taking part in the 27th annual session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly that is held in Berlin on 7-11 July. Addressing the event were President of the Bundestag Dr Wolfgang Schauble, Federal Minister of Finance and Vice Chancellor of Germany Olaf Scholz, and Italian Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation Guglielmo Picchi.

On 7 July Belarus’ parliamentary delegation headed by Vice Chairman of the House of Representatives Boleslav Pirshtuk took part in the session of the Standing Committee of the OSCE PA. The session approved members of the three General Committees and passed the budget of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly for the 2018-2019 fiscal year. A decision was made to include additional draft resolutions into the agenda of the 27th annual session of the organization. The draft resolution on the promotion of digital economy to secure economic growth in the OSCE that was proposed by the Belarusian MPs was unanimously supported by the members of the Standing Committee and was included into the agenda of the session.

Reports were delivered by OSCE PA President George Tsereteli, OSCE PA Secretary General Roberto Montella, heads of ad hoc committees and special representatives of the OSCE PA, as well as election observation missions that monitored elections in Azerbaijan, Russia and Turkey. On the agenda was the preparation for the forthcoming sessions of the organization that will be held in Kyrgyzstan, Luxemburg and Morocco in 2018-2019.
