MINSK, 17 August (BelTA) - The state must not only maintain peace and ensure law and order in the country but also be proactive on this front, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he met with senior officials of the Council of Ministers on 17 August, BelTA has learned.
A draft decree providing for changes to the public security monitoring system has been submitted to the president. The head of state asked how the new approaches would contribute to better public security and how much these reforms will cost.
“I ask you to keep in mind that we should use budgetary funds in the most efficient way. The monitoring methods need to be affordable for the Belarusian state. No frills. I will never agree to such things,” stressed Aleksandr Lukashenko.
Information protection is of utmost importance, the president added. All measures should be taken to prevent vulnerabilities of the system. “The law enforcement agencies also need to intensify efforts to stop high-tech crimes: the issue is of paramount importance,” the head of state said.
