Belarus prime minister, EEC minister discuss Eurasian integration

Belarus prime minister, EEC minister discuss Eurasian integration

MINSK, 20 June (BelTA) – Prime Minister of Belarus Sergei Rumas and Member of the Board (Minister) for Integration and Macroeconomics of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) Tatiana Valovaya met in Minsk on 20 June to discuss topical matters of Eurasian integration, BelTA has learned.

In particular, the sides discussed progress in preparing a draft protocol on amending the Eurasian Economic Union Treaty. Sergei Rumas mentioned the constructive nature of meetings with the EEC minister, during which the parties manage to address emerging issues through joint efforts and thus keep the overall integration movement going.

Sergei Rumas congratulated Tatiana Valovaya on getting appointed head of the UN office in Geneva. “We believe that apart from the evaluation of your professional skills it also represents an evaluation of our Eurasian Economic Union and the professionalism of the EEC Board among other things,” he said. The prime minister said he hopes that Tatiana Valovaya would spread the experience she had accumulated while taking care of integration matters in the Eurasian Economic Union onto the global level.

The meeting took place on the eve of a session of the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission, which will take place in Minsk on 21 June and will involve deputy prime ministers of the Eurasian Economic Union member states.
