Belarus president’s visit to Tajikistan over

DUSHANBE, 16 May (BelTA) – The official visit of Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko to Tajikistan is now over. The aircraft with the Belarusian head of state on board has left the Dushanbe airport, BelTA has learned.

Tajikistan President Emomali Rahmon saw off Alexander Lukashenko in the airport. They summed up results of the visit during the brief conversation.

Prior to that the Tajikistan president invited the Belarusian head of state to visit Emomali Rahmon’s countryside residences Varzob and Takob. The residences are located in picturesque mountain places not far from Dushanbe. Alexander Lukashenko examined the natural places of interest and dined with Emomali Rahmon in an informal setting later.

The two heads of state had met for official negotiations in the Palace of the Nation the day before. A large number of matters concerning the bilateral relations were discussed with a focus on trade and economic cooperation. Alexander Lukashenko and Emomali Rahmon signed a joint statement. A roadmap to guide Belarus-Tajikistan cooperation in 2019-2020 and more than ten interstate documents were also signed in their presence.

The presidents took part in the opening ceremony of Belarus’ national expo in Tajikistan. The expo is the largest event of the kind of the last few years. The two heads of state went on a tour of the expo and discussed possible avenues of cooperation in various spheres.

The two heads of state also officially opened an enterprise in the city of Hisor where Belarusian agricultural machines will be assembled. The end products will be sold on third-country markets, too.

A business forum took place in Dushanbe in the days of Alexander Lukashenko’s visit to Tajikistan. The forum gathered representatives of the private sector of Belarus and Tajikistan as well as businessmen from Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, and Kazakhstan.

Apart from that, Belarusian Culture and Cinema Days are in progress in Dushanbe and the regions of Tajikistan.
