Belarus president off to Tajikistan on working visit

MINSK, 27 September (BelTA) - Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko went off to Tajikistan to attend the CIS Heads of State Council summit on 28 September, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.

The summit will include a meeting of the heads of state behind closed doors and then with the participation of their delegations. The presidents will discuss issues of political cooperation, further development of cooperation in cultural, humanitarian and security sectors.

It is expected that Alexander Lukashenko will hold a number of meetings with foreign leaders on the sidelines of the summit in Dushanbe to discuss bilateral agendas.

As for the Belarus-Tajikistan events, Alexander Lukashenko and Emomali Rahmon will discuss bilateral cooperation and take stock of the progress made in the implementation of the previously-made agreements.

As BelTA reported earlier, the head of state paid an official visit to Tajikistan in May 2018. The presidents launched the plant in Hisor to assemble Belarusian farming machinery. The project was included by the government of Tajiksitan into the list of facilities of supreme importance. “I will visit Tajikistan in September and take a look at how you trade. You will report what markets you are eyeing. We would like to set up a platform here to enter third markets with joint products,” Alexander Lukashenko said visiting the plant then.
