Belarus president invites Pakistan to step up trade, economic cooperation

MINSK, 5 October (BelTA) – Bolstering specific trade and economic ties should be the next step in the development of cooperation between Belarus and Pakistan, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said as he accepted credentials of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Belarus Masud Khan Raja on 5 October, BelTA has learned.

Alexander Lukashenko congratulated the diplomat on the opening of the Embassy of Pakistan in Belarus and noted that this step will promote further fruitful cooperation.

The Belarusian leader also pointed out that his visit to Islamabad and the recent visit of the Pakistani Prime Minister to Belarus were very productive. “We have laid a solid foundation for further development of the dialogue,” Alexander Lukashenko stressed.

The head of state expects Belarus and Pakistan will sign a roadmap for bilateral cooperation for 2015-2020 and start working on its implementation in the near future.
