MINSK, 9 June (BelTA) – Famous members of the State Duma of Russia’s Federal Assembly have been honored with Belarusian state awards. Belarus President signed a corresponding decree on 8 June, BelTA learned from the press service of the head of state.
Politicians were awarded for a big personal contribution to the enhancement of friendly relations between Belarus and Russia, development of the Union State, economic, scientific, technical, and cultural ties.
The Order of Friendship of Peoples was conferred on head of the Communist Party faction in Russia’s parliament Gennady Zyuganov.
First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Ivan Melnikov and Chairman of the State Duma’s committee for CIS affairs, Eurasian integration, and ties with compatriots Leonid Slutsky received the Orders of Honor.
