Belarus, Portugal to set up commission on economic cooperation

MINSK, 13 April (BelTA) – Belarus and Portugal will set up a joint commission on economic cooperation, BelTA learned from the Belarusian embassy in France.

The Belarusian-Portuguese commission is envisaged as part of the interstate agreement on economic cooperation signed by Belarus’ Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Oleg Kravchenko and Director General for Foreign Policy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Portugal Pedro Da Costa Pereira.

The parties discussed the state and prospects of the Belarusian-Portuguese relations, interaction within international organizations, Belarus-EU dialogue, and issues of the international and regional agenda.

On 12-13 April, Oleg Kravchenko paid a visit to Lisbon, Portugal to attend the second round of Belarusian-Portuguese political consultations and bilateral meetings. During the visit, Oleg Kravchenko met with Ana Paula Zacarias, the Secretary of State of European Affairs, to discuss the development of bilateral and multilateral cooperation, prospects for Belarus-EU cooperation, including the Eastern Partnership.

The international exhibition "From Lisbon via Minsk, Moscow, Astana to Vladivostok", a significant event in the Belarusian-Portuguese cultural cooperation, will stay open at the Camoes Institute in Lisbon through 4 May.
