Belarus PM meets with Kazakhstan president

NUR-SULTAN, 25 February (BelTA) - Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with the heads of the delegations participating in the meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council. The Belarusian delegation was led by Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko, BelTA has learned.

“I am confident that further strengthening of integration in the Eurasian space is the most powerful incentive for the development and prosperity of our states. Statistical data clearly show the growth trajectory of the EAEU. The mutual trade is $72 billion. These are very impressive figures. I cannot but mention Kazakhstan's great contribution to the integration processes. I believe that our results this year should be no less significant, despite the very turbulent situation, and the ongoing sanctions pressure on the EAEU countries. It is very important that we ensure our own industrial and energy security and do not depend on imports,” said Roman Golovchenko.

The meeting was held ahead the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council meeting in an expanded format.

According to the press service of the Eurasian Economic Commission, the heads of government of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) member states are set to review progress to implement the agreement on traceability of goods imported into the EAEU customs territory and the agreement on the use of navigation seals in the EAEU to track shipments. They will also discuss a roadmap to expand cooperation in civil aircraft manufacturing in the EAEU countries in 2022-2023, a report on the current state and development prospects of the EAEU integrated information system.

The agenda includes the review of the EAEU joint project Eurasian Agroexpress that provides for accelerated container rail and multi-modal transportation of agricultural products. The parties will also discuss amendments to the EAEU Treaty regarding indirect taxes for selling goods to individuals using e-commerce, as well as the participation of Uzbekistan in individual EAEU initiatives.
