MINSK, 11 July (BelTA) – The first OSCE Gender Equality Review Conference opened in Vienna on 10 July. The Belarusian delegation is led by Labor and Social Protection Minister Marianna Shchetkina, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry.

“The meeting is focused on the equality of men and women in the economy, involvement of women in the social and political life, fight against the abuse of women, the role of women in the regulation of crises, strengthening of institutional mechanisms to ensure gender equality in the OSCE,” according to the Foreign Ministry.

The conference is organized by the Swiss presidency in the OSCE jointly with the OSCE Secretariat and the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights. It is timed to the 10th anniversary of the OSCE Action Plan for the Promotion of Gender Equality.
