Belarus’ parliamentary delegation to visit India in 2016

MINSK, 19 August (BelTA) – A parliamentary delegation of Belarus plans to visit India in 2016, Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly Vladimir Andreichenko said as he met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to Belarus Manoj Kumar Bharti on 19 August, BelTA informs.

Vladimir Andreichenko noted that the Belarusian parliament had been invited to visit India and thanked the Ambassador for the invitation. “I think the visit will take place in 2016,” the Speaker said.

Vladimir Andreichenko also expressed gratitude to the Indian Ambassador, whose mission in Belarus is nearing completion, for his considerable contribution to the development of partnership between the two countries. Manoj Kumar Bharti’s contribution has helped make the relations between Belarus and India solid and long-term, Vladimir Andreichenko said.

The Speaker also reminded the Indian Ambassador of such milestone events as the recent visit of the Indian President to Belarus. A number of important documents were signed during this high-level visit. The visit of the Belarusian Premier to India in 2012 as well as the visit of the Speaker of the House of the People of India to Belarus in 2013 played a big role in the development of bilateral relations. Apart from that, India’s recognition of Belarus’ market status was also an important step forward in the relations between the two countries. The mutual trade exceeded $400 million in 2014 and was over $236 million in H1 2015. Belarus’ main exports to India include potash fertilizers. Vladimir Andreichenko is confident that the potential of the bilateral trade and economic cooperation is still untapped. For instance, Belarus may be interested in the supplies of raw material for footwear production as well as rawhide from India.

In turn, the Indian ambassador thanked Vladimir Andreichenko for the positive assessment of his work. In his words, over four years of his mission in Belarus he has grown both personally and professionally.
