MINSK, 26 January (BelTA) – Belarus’ parliamentary delegation will go to Poland on official visit, Valery Voronetsky, Chairman of the Permanent Commission for International Affairs of the House of Representatives, told the media, BelTA has learned.

“Next week, the parliamentary delegation led by deputy chairman of the House of Representatives Boleslav Pirshtuk plans to visit Poland,” Valery Voronetsky said.

This year Belarus is set to host the parliamentary leaders of China, India, Iraq, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Kyrgyzstan, and other countries. There are also plans to exchange visits with the parliament of Vietnam and the parliament of Pakistan.

The 2017 plan of international parliamentary cooperation was adopted at the meeting of the House of Representatives on 25 January. The document consists of 4 chapters and includes plans of cooperation with international parliamentary organizations. Valery Voronetsky recalled that currently the Belarusian Parliament is part of seven international parliamentary organizations including the Belarus-Russia Union State Parliamentary Assembly, the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly, and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization. The Belarusian Parliament is set to work constructively in such organizations and to intensify contacts with the parliaments of different regions and countries of the world.

Valery Voronetsky noted that the aim of MPs’ work is to foster the international prestige and image of the country and to broaden the whole array of cooperation areas. It provides the basis for increasing the investment attractiveness. The Parliament is a very important element of the system of the implementation of the country’s foreign policy.
