MINSK, 29 December (BelTA) - Chairman of the Standing Commission on International Affairs and National Security of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Sergei Aleinik met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to the Republic of Belarus Muhemmed Aejaz on 29 December, BelTA has learned.
The parties mutually acknowledged the positive momentum in bilateral Belarus-Pakistan cooperation and reaffirmed their firm commitment to further deepening the parliamentary ties, taking into account the significant political contacts fostered by the good friendly relations between the leaders of the two countries and the high-level visits that have taken place.
Sergei Aleinik and Muhemmed Aejaz discussed specific initiatives regarding the role of the upper chambers of the legislative bodies of Belarus and Pakistan in enhancing mutually beneficial cooperation and implementing joint projects in trade and economy and in boosting interregional ties.
Sergei Aleinik shared with the Ambassador his observations from participating in the first Inter-Parliamentary Speakers’ Conference (ISC) “Peace, Security and Development”, which took place in Islamabad on 11-12 November, and highly praised this initiative by the leadership of the Senate of Pakistan.
The parties agreed to continue joint work on the discussed topics through parliamentary and diplomatic channels.
