MINSK, 23 September (BelTA) – Belarus-Pakistan cooperation in the United Nations was discussed at a meeting between Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Pakistan Andrei Yermolovich and Deputy Foreign Minister of Pakistan Tasnim Aslam on 22 September, BelTA learnt from the press service of the Foreign Ministry of Belarus.
The parties marked the productive character of interaction between Belarus and Pakistan in the UN. The two countries take a balanced approach, with respect to mutual interests, to the discussion of human rights, anti-trafficking and other issues.
Andrei Yermolovich invited the Pakistani side to join the events organized by Belarus within the 69th Session of the UN General Assembly aimed at struggling against trafficking in human beings.
The parties stressed the importance of interaction between Minsk and Islamabad within the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF). In this connection the Ambassador invited Pakistan to take part in a high level event scheduled for September 2014 to discuss partnership aimed at strengthening protective environment for children.
The sides talked over a range of tactical issues of bilateral cooperation during the forthcoming elections to various UN bodies.
