ISLAMABAD, 5 October (BelTA) – Belarus and Pakistan have agreed to continue supporting each other on the international arena. This is envisaged in the joint statement of Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko and Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif which was passed after the official negotiations in Islamabad on 5 October, BelTA has learned.
“Acknowledging that the approaches on the key international and regional issues are similar, the sides reaffirmed their commitment to the universal norms of international law, goals and principles of the UN Charter, enhancement of the UN’s role in the resolution of a wide range of issues regarding the promotion of international peace and security, prevention of modern challenges and threats such as international terrorism, the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, illegal production and sale of drugs, human trafficking, natural and man-made disasters,” the joint statement reads.
After the meeting the sides agreed to continue the mutual support of investments and candidacies of the two states in the UN and other international organizations.
The heads of state praised the activities of the governments of the two countries in the key sectors of the economy, spoke in positive terms about the operation of the joint Belarusian-Pakistan trade and economic cooperation commission.
Alexander Lukashenko and Nawaz Sharif also praised the formation of the groups of friendship in the parliaments of Belarus and Pakistan.
