Belarus-PACE interparliamentary cooperation discussed

MINSK, 20 May (BelTA) – Deputy Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Anatoly Rusetsky met with President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Pedro Agramunt during events of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly, the press service of the upper chamber of the Belarus parliament told BelTA.

The meeting focused on topical aspects of interparliamentary cooperation and other matters of mutual interest.

Events of the Interparliamentary Assembly of the Commonwealth of Independent States took place in Saint Petersburg on 18-20 May. The plenary session of the fourth international forum Eurasian Economic Perspective took place on 19 May. During the event as the head of the Belarusian delegation Anatoly Rusetsky drew attention of participants of the forum to the economic growth reserves that are available in the Eurasian Economic Union. Anatoly Rusetsky also underscored the importance of interregional interaction as an effective form of integration.

Sessions of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly Council and the Assembly’s permanent commissions on studying state construction experience, on legal matters, on agrarian policy, natural resources and environment, on culture, information, tourism and sport also took place on that day.

20 May saw the 44th plenary session of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly. Participants of the event considered the draft CIS convention on cooperation in studying and utilizing outer space for peaceful purposes as well as a number of model laws and commentaries to the model CIS Tax Code.
