Belarus outlines its consistent human rights position to foreign diplomats at MFA briefing

MINSK, 9 March (BelTA) – Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus Igor Sekreta held a briefing on 9 March for members of the diplomatic corps accredited in the country on current issues of the international human rights agenda, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The deputy minister drew the attention of briefing participants to the high conflict potential and divisive nature of human rights issues in international relations.

He paid particular attention to discussions on country-specific matters at the UN Human Rights Council, where politicization continues to grow and tendencies toward confrontation and bloc thinking are intensifying.

Igor Sekreta presented to foreign diplomats Belarus’ consistent position on human rights issues, based on the conviction that human rights should be viewed primarily as a space for constructive engagement, not political confrontation.

He reaffirmed Belarus’ commitment to dialogue, trust-building, and the development of international cooperation in the field of human rights.
