Belarus notifies USA of lifted cap on number of diplomats in Minsk

MINSK, 4 March (BelTA) - The United Sates has been official notified that Minsk has lifted the cap, which was in place since 2008, on the number of U.S. diplomats allowed in the country. The issue was discussed during a meeting between Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei and a U.S. delegation led by  Deputy Assistant Secretary at the U.S. Department of State George Kent, BelTA learned from the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus.

"Belarus has officially notified the United States that it has lifted the restrictions on the number of employees of the United States Embassy in Minsk, which were in place since 2008, and expressed the hope that this step will contribute to the further normalization of relations between Belarus and the United States,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

The parties also discussed the current state of Belarusian-U.S. relations and exchanged views on pressing issues on the international agenda.
