MINSK, 29 January (BelTA) – Belarus and Norway are working on visa facilitation and nuclear security cooperation agreements. The issues were discussed during Belarus-Norway ministerial consultations in Oslo on 28 January, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Belarusian delegation was led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Oleg Kravchenko. The Norwegian delegation was headed by State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Audun Halvorsen.

“Keeping in mind the recent signing of the visa facilitation and readmission agreements between Belarus and the European Union, an agreement has been reached to promptly prepare the appropriate documents for signing between Belarus and Norway. The parties also hailed the efforts of the ministries of the two countries in coordinating the draft agreement on cooperation in nuclear security,” the ministry said.

The ministerial consultations touched upon the development of political dialogue, cooperation in trade, economy and investment, the development of the legal framework, and cooperation in international organizations. The talks also focused on the regional agenda and international security, relations with the European Union, the Council of Europe and third countries.

The diplomats praised the recent vibrant cooperation between Belarus and Norway, including in trade, emphasizing a mutually-beneficial and balanced trade turnover. They stressed their readiness to take joint efforts to address any emerging issues and also use new opportunities to expand cooperation.

Oleg Kravchenko also spoke at the Belarusian-Norwegian business breakfast prior to the ministerial consultations. The major topic of the event was the export of Belarusian IT services to Norway. Attending the event were about 50 business representatives of Norway, including the Investment Fund for North-West Russia and Eastern Europe. Protocols on cooperation were signed between the Belarusian National Biotechnology Corporation and Nordic Molecule Group AS in the production and sales of compound fish feed and other biotechnological products.
