Belarus, Nicaragua discuss cooperation in higher education

MINSK, 7 June (BelTA) - Belarus and Nicaragua have discussed cooperation in the field of higher education, BelTA learned from the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus.

Belarus Deputy Minister of Foreign Affair Evgeny Shestakov met with Ambassador of Nicaragua to Russia and concurrently to Belarus Juan Ernesto Vasquez Araya. The meeting was also attended by Honorary Consul of Nicaragua to Belarus Piotr Sinkevich.

“The parties discussed the cooperation between Belarus and Nicaragua in the political and economic areas, the development of the legal framework of bilateral relations, and the establishment of interstate cooperation in the field of higher education,” the press service informed.

As was reported, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko received letters of credence from Nicaraguan Ambassador Juan Ernesto Vasquez Araya on 6 June. The head of state noted that Belarus sees Nicaragua as a reliable political and economic ally in Central America. “We have sufficient potential for the successful development of cooperation in trade, economic, scientific, technical, cultural, and educational fields,” the Belarusian leader said.
