MINSK, 16 June (BelTA) – The draft law on the adoption of the Military Doctrine of the Republic of Belarus has passed its second reading in the House of Representatives, BelTA has learned.
As many as 95 members of the House of Representatives voted in favor of the bill, providing the necessary two-thirds majority.
The new doctrine includes such concepts as hybrid warfare and color revolutions. The draft document was submitted to the House of Representatives on 12 February 2016 after it was approved by the President of Belarus following a meeting of the Security Council.
The Military Doctrine had to be revised due to changes in the global military and political situation, the nature of armed conflicts, and modern trends in the development of the Belarusian state. The new edition of the document provides the guidelines for the development of the defense sector of the economy.
