Belarus’ new military doctrine due for first reading in parliament on 4 April

MINSK, 29 March (BelTA) – The Belarus parliament will consider the country’s new military doctrine as the spring session opens on 4 April, chairman of the permanent commission for national security of the House of Representatives Valery Gaidukevich told media, BelTA has learned.

“The main document which the commission is currently considering is the military doctrine. It will be submitted for the first and second readings during the spring session,” Valery Gaidukevich said.

The MP drew attention to another important document, which will be on the agenda of the ninth session of the lower house of Belarusian parliament of the fifth convocation. It is the bill on the amendments to the law on combating terrorism. It has already passed the first reading. “We see what is happening in the world today. Now, of course, the main threat is terrorism,” said Valery Gaidukevich.

According to him, the bill suggests holding counterterrorist operations against organizations that are known to be terrorism related. “In particular, it is IS,” he noted.
