Belarus, Moscow Oblast to sign cooperation program for 2013-2015

MOSCOW, 27 December (BelTA) - A joint program for the development of trade and economic, scientific-technical and cultural cooperation between Belarus and Moscow Oblast for 2013-2015 will be signed soon. The agreement on this was reached during a meeting between Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Russia Igor Petrishenko and Acting Governor of Moscow Oblast Andrei Vorobyov, BelTA learnt from the embassy’s press service.

According to Igor Petrishenko, considering the high level of understanding, problem solving efficiency and the constantly evolving cooperation, Moscow Oblast remains the key partner of Belarus in Russia. This is facilitated by the effective effort of the parties in the area of foreign trade promotion.

Igor Petrishenko and Andrei Vorobyov discussed several promising areas of interaction between Belarus and Moscow Oblast, in particular supplies of equipment and other industrial gods, in construction of housing, industrial and agricultural facilities in Moscow Oblast.

One of the most important areas is industrial cooperation, including establishment of joint production facilities, supply of products. In particular, Minsk Motor Plant and Noginsk Plant of Fuel Equipment are working on the development of the integrated fuel injection system with electronic control. Mogilevliftmash Plant and OAO Shcherbinka Lift Building Plant are discussing the ways of expanding the cooperation and mutual deliveries.

A preliminary agreement has been reached to conduct the next meeting of the working group on Belarus-Moscow Oblast cooperation in March 2013.

During the meeting the parties emphasized the importance of developing twin-town relations, especially in the wake of the 7th meeting of twin-towns and partners of Belarus and Russia in Minsk on 16 November 2012. Numerous contacts between Belarusian cities and Moscow Oblast promote strong friendly relations at the regional level, set up a platform for implementation of a wide range of projects aimed at cooperation in economy, culture, sports, youth and family policies.

The sides took stock of the trade and economic cooperation in January-October 2012. Belarus-Moscow Oblast trade totaled $3921.8 million up 35.9% in comparison with the same period last year. Exports made, up $2474.9 million, up 28.1%. Moscow Oblast accounts for 18.5% of Belarus’ total export to the Russian Federation. Belarus’ main exports to Moscow Oblast are dairy and meat products, trucks.

Over the period since 2005 the trade between Belarus and Moscow Oblast increased 3.3 times to reach $3.3 billion in 2011. Moscow Oblast is second among Russian regions in what concerns Belarusian exports. Belarus’ main exports to Moscow Oblast are dairy and meat products, trucks.

According to the Ambassador, a well-developed Belarusian commodity-distribution network in Moscow Oblast contributes greatly to the growth of mutual trade. The companies of the Belarusian Industry Ministry have set up 18 commodity-distribution networks in the region. All in all, there are over 80 commodity-distribution units with the Belarusian capital in Moscow and Moscow Oblast. They produce industrial, agricultural and consumer goods.
