MINSK, 17 May (BelTA) - The Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated about the growing politicization of the topic of children on the international agenda. The topic was discussed at the meeting of Belarusian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Yuri Ambrazevich with Rustam Haydarov, UNICEF Representative in Belarus, and Artashes Mirzoyan, Regional Adviser for Partnerships of the UNICEF Regional Office for Europe and Central Asia, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

They discussed the urgent and prospective tasks of the government and the fund in terms of mobilization of external resources to finance UNICEF project activities in Belarus. “The deputy minister drew the attention of the UNICEF representatives to the growing politicization of the topic of children on the international agenda, including the Belarusian practice of accepting children from foreign countries for recuperation in children’s summer camps. The parties agreed that the children's agenda should not be used by states for political purposes,” the ministry said.

The parties praised the effective cooperation between Belarus and UNICEF to provide assistance to Ukrainian refugee children from 2014 to the present, including the Humanitarian Assistance to Refugee Children from Ukraine in Summer: Recuperation and Preparation for the Academic Year project implemented in 2022 through the Belarusian Red Cross and with the financial support of UNICEF.
