Belarus MFA bids farewell to outgoing Russian ambassador

MINSK, 29 August (BelTA) – Belarus’ Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei met with outgoing Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia to Belarus Alexander Surikov, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The parties discussed topical issues of Belarusian-Russian cooperation, interaction in integration associations. Vladimir Makei thanked Alexander Surikov for his contribution to the development of all-round cooperation between Belarus and Russia.

As it was reported, Russian President Vladimir Putin has appointed Mikhail Babich Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia to Belarus and special presidential envoy for promoting trade and economic cooperation with Belarus.

The corresponding decrees were posted on Russia’s official Internet portal of legal information on 24 August. Earlier Mikhail Babich served as Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Volga Federal District of Russia.
