Belarus may be admitted to ENFSI

MINSK, 4 February (BelTA) – Belarus may be admitted to the European Network of Forensic Science Institutes (ENFSI), Jan De Kinder, ENFSI President, Director General of the National Institute of Criminalistics and Criminology of Belgium, told reporters on 4 February, BelTA has learned.

“The European Network of Forensic Science Institutes is doing its best to raise the quality of investigation. Minsk experts have recently made big progress in this area. In the near future we will discuss Belarus' accession to our organization. I can say that our cooperation will benefit the both sides,” Jan De Kinder said.

The president of the European organization noted that on 4 February he visited several labs of the State Forensics Committee of Belarus and was impressed by what he saw there.

On 4-5 February, Minsk brought together the representatives of the largest forensics organization in Europe ENFSI uniting 64 expert institutions from 36 European countries. Upon the initiative of the ENFSI senior executives, the meeting has been moved from London to Minsk.

Apart from the session of the permanent committee of the organization, the representatives of the leading expert institutions of the European Union will hold a seminar with the specialists of the State Forensics Committee of Belarus.
