MINSK, 4 February (BelTA) – Belarus and Latvia are discussing the idea of establishing full-value equal contacts between the Eurasian Economic Union and the European Union, BelTA learned from Dmitry Mironchik, Head of the Information Office, Press Secretary of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on 4 February.
Among other things the matter is discussed during ministerial consultations focusing on Eurasian Economic Union affairs in Riga on 4-5 February. The event has been arranged upon the initiative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Latvia with assistance of the Latvian business community.
The Belarusian delegation is led by First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Alexander Mikhnevich. The consultations are supposed to focus on further development of trade and economic cooperation in view of Belarus’ membership in the Eurasian Economic Union. The establishment of contacts between the Eurasian Economic Union and the European Commission will be discussed as well.
