Belarus-Latvia intergovernmental commission to sit in Daugavpils in December

MINSK, 20 October (BelTA) – The Latvian city of Daugavpils will host the next session of the Belarus-Latvia intergovernmental commission for economic, scientific and technical cooperation in December 2015, Latvia's Economy Minister Dana Reizniece-Ozola said at the opening of the Latvia-Belarus business forum in Minsk on 20 October, BelTA has learned.

The session of the intergovernmental commission is scheduled for early December. Plans have also been made to hold a session of the Belarus-Latvia business council and a business forum. Dana Reizniece-Ozola expressed confidence that the events will help strengthen the economic ties between the two countries.

For his part, Belarus' First Deputy Economy Minister Alexander Zaborovsky pointed out that Belarus is open to mutually beneficial cooperation and partnership with Latvia and the European Union in general. “Today we have more opportunities for this than before,” he stressed. “Our joint projects in production sector, food processing industry, services will boost our cooperation and trade,” Alexander Zaborovsky added.

The Latvia-Belarus business forum is underway in Minsk. It is held as part of the Days of Latvia in Belarus. The event has been organized by the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia with the support of the Latvian Embassy in Belarus, the National Investment and Privatization Agency of Belarus, and the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. A section of Latvian goods will open at a store in Minsk at 106 Dzerzhinskogo Avenue on 20 October. The cultural events of the Days of Latvia in Belarus will take place on 21 to 23 October.
