Belarus, Latvia discuss interparliamentary contacts

MINSK, 5 October (BelTA) – Outgoing Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Latvia Marina Dolgopolova has met with Inara Murniece, Speaker of the Saeima of the Republic of Latvia, and Gundars Daudze, Deputy Speaker of the Saeima, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The parties discussed interparliamentary contacts and welcomed the contribution of the parliaments into promotion of good-neighborly and partner relations between Belarus and Latvia. They emphasized the importance of exchange of visits at the level of deputy speakers of the parliaments, as well as cooperation between parliamentary commissions for international affairs, security, and economy and cooperation groups. They also discussed matters related to trade and economy, including transportation and transit.

Apart from that, the Belarusian diplomat met with Latvian Minister of Foreign Affairs Edgars Rinkevics. The parties welcomed constructive and fruitful cooperation of the two countries in politics, economy and humanitarian field. They emphasized the importance of maintaining regular contacts between the foreign ministries, as such contacts allow discussing topical issues of the bilateral agenda and facilitating bilateral relations at all levels. Edgars Rinkevics thanked Marina Dolgopolova for her contribution to strengthening the Belarus-Latvia relations and expressed his satisfaction with the intensity of political dialogue and economic cooperation.
