Belarus, Kyrgyzstan intend to intensify relations

MINSK, 31 January (BelTA) – Minsk played host to another round of Belarus-Kyrgyzstan ministerial consultations on 30 January, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Belarusian delegation was headed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Igor Nazaruk. The delegation of Kyrgyzstan was led by First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Asein Isaev.

"The parties reviewed a wide range of issues of Belarus-Kyrgyzstan cooperation, and outlined the key areas for its intensification. Special consideration was given to the interaction in the integration associations (EAEU, CIS, CSTO, SCO) and international organizations (UN, OSCE)," the ministry said.

The diplomats expressed satisfaction with the state of the Belarus-Kyrgyzstan dialogue, reaffirmed their commitment to promoting its development, discussed practical aspects of organizing joint events, including those dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.

Following the consultations, the parties signed a program of ministerial cooperation for 2023-2024 and a plan of events to mark the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations.

As BelTA reported earlier, a week before  Belarusian head of state Aleksandr Lukashenko and Kyrgyzstan President Sadyr Japarov had a telephone conversation to discuss the current state and prospects for bilateral cooperation.

The presidents welcomed a significant increase in trade and economic cooperation in 2022, and highlighted the importance of continuing joint cooperation projects. The heads of state also discussed integration issues, including taking into account the priorities and tasks of the Belarusian chairmanship in the CSTO.
