Belarus, Kursk Oblast sign 2015-2016 action plan

MINSK, 10 March (BelTA) – The 2015-2016 action plan to the agreement between the Belarusian government and the Administration of Kursk Oblast on trade, economic, sci-tech and cultural cooperation of 25 January 2002 was signed by Belarusian Premier Andrei Kobyakov and Kursk Oblast Governor Alexander Mikhailov in Minsk on 10 March, BelTA has learned.

According to the Belarusian head of government, Belarus attaches great attention to the relations with the regions of the Russian Federation.

As for Kursk Oblast, the parties cooperate on a wide range of areas, including industrial cooperation, the agro-industrial complex, and trade. “We hope to add impetus to our sci-tech cooperation,” Andrei Kobyakov noted. In his words, the sides still have an untapped potential, especially in the trade and economic sector.

According to the Premier, despite a recent drop in sales between Belarus and Russia, the level of mutual trade with Kursk Oblast continues steadily increasing. Over the last five years the bilateral trade has increased three times.

Alexander Mikhailov believes that there is more to come. According to the Kursk Oblast Governor, Belarus and the Russian region still have a lot of unrealized opportunities. There are good prospects for the development of mutual relations. The current visit of the Kursk Oblast delegation, during which the Russian guests visited a number of Belarusian companies, will contribute to the matter.

Today’s meeting in the Belarusian government resulted, apart from the 2015-2016 action plan, in the signing the agreement between the Mogilev Oblast Executive Committee and the Administration of Kursk Oblast on trade, economic, sci-tech and cultural cooperation, the 2015-2016 action plan to the agreement between the Gomel Oblast Executive Committee and the Administration of Kursk Oblast on trade, economic, sci-tech and cultural cooperation of 14 October 1997. the agreement on cooperation with the Kursk Oblast Duma was also signed by the Gomel and Mogilev Oblast Council of Deputies.
