MINSK, 2 December (BelTA) - Belarus has acceded to the International Maritime Organization (IMO), BelTA learned from the press service of the Transport and Communications Ministry.
According to the IMO, an instrument of acceptance of the Convention on the International Maritime Organization was deposited with the Secretary General of the United Nations on 29 November 2016.
The IMO comprises 172 members, including Belarus.
The IMO is the United Nations' specialized agency responsible for improving maritime safety and preventing pollution from ships.
