Belarus, Israel to collaborate in enhancing financial sector security

MINSK, 12 July (BelTA) – The Financial Monitoring Department of the State Control Committee of Belarus and the Israel Money Laundering and Terror Financing Prohibition Authority signed a memorandum of understanding to combat money laundering and terrorism financing in Tel Aviv, BelTA has learned from the State Control Committee of Belarus.

The work on the document began in 2013. The memorandum is designed to improve information exchange between the financial watchdogs of the two countries. It will also help build up capacity in detecting crimes related to terror financing and money laundering, which will subsequently improve security and stability of financial systems of Belarus and Israel.

Cooperation agreements were signed with Azerbaijan, Armenia, Afghanistan, Georgia, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Macedonia, Moldova, Mongolia, Poland, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Ukraine and Finland.
