Belarus, Israel seek closer inter-parliamentary ties

MINSK, 30 May (BelTA) – MPs of Belarus and Israel are showing interest in developing contacts, the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus told BelTA after the meeting of Valery Voronetsky, Chairman of Permanent Commission on International Affairs of the House of Representatives of Belarus, with Director of the Department for Eurasia at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Israel Alexander Ben-Zvi.

The parties considered a wide range of issues related to the Belarusian-Israeli relations. Special attention was focused on expanding inter-parliamentary relations, strengthening of cooperation in the trade, economic, cultural, sci-tech and humanitarian areas.

Valery Voronetsky took note of the momentum in Belarus-Israel relations. The parties voiced an interest in developing contacts at the level of working groups on cooperation between the parliaments of Belarus and Israel and also parliamentary commissions.

Taking part in the meeting was Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Israel to Belarus Alon Shoham.
