MINSK, 11 June (BelTA) – The Belarusian government has suggested the Russian government to lift restrictions on tourist trips, Belarus’ Deputy Prime Minister Igor Petrishenko told the media on 11 June, BelTA has learned.

“Belarus’ proposal is to enable our citizens to go to the Russian Federation to study, recuperate, work, or visit relatives. We will work as quickly as possible to remove restrictions, primarily on the part of the Russian Federation, because there have been no restrictions on our part,” said Igor Petrishenko.

According to him, the proposal was voiced at a video conference with Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk.

When asked on possible dates to lift the restrictions, the deputy prime minister said: “We suggested the dates to do this as soon as possible. We are ready to do it now. Everything depends on our partners from the Russian Federation. We have not introduced any restrictions.”

According to Igor Petrishenko, Russian tourists have been visiting Belarusian spa resorts for recuperation holidays in recent months. “They have had a good rest there. We have also taken certain measures in our spa resorts to prevent our visitors from contracting the virus and receive all necessary healthcare services,” he added.
