Belarus’ investment potential showcased in Austria

MINSK, 6 October (BelTA) – Belarus investment potential has been showcased at the Austrian biggest financial symposium, BelTA has learned.

The investment potential of the country was presented at the 31st financial symposium in Austria’s Alpbach during a special panel discussion dedicated to Belarus. The annual financial symposium is Austria’s economic milestone event, which gathers in the Alps more than 500 heads and financial managers of the Austria’s biggest companies, banks and international financial institutes. Belarus was presented at the forum for the first time.

Alexander Zaborovsky, chief adviser to the Chairman of the Board of the National Bank of Belarus, stated during the presentation that restoring economic growth, reducing macroeconomic risks and implementing policy measures open a new window of opportunity for the Austrian business to invest in Belarus. Austria has traditionally been among the five largest investors in Belarus, while joint ventures and companies with the participation of the Austrian capital operate in such sectors of the Belarusian economy as telecommunications, banking, transport and logistics.

Special attention was turned to the measures for further liberalization of the business climate, a package of normative legal acts that qualitatively improve working conditions in Belarus, the capabilities of the Great Stone Industrial Park and the Hi-Tech Park, as well as the country's macrofinance indicators and the monetary and foreign exchange policy of the National Bank of Belarus. An agreement was reached with the organizers of the forum on a regular presentation of the economic and financial review on Belarus, the development of joint events with the support of international financial institutions.
