MINSK, 3 June (BelTA) – The Investigative Committee of Belarus hosted a working visit with representatives of the United States Secret Service. The parties agreed to maintain working contacts for rapid resolution of issues related to mutual assistance in criminal matters, BelTA learned from the international legal department of the Investigative Committee of Belarus.
The parties exchanged information on the main areas of work. The U.S. federal law enforcement agency is charged with protecting the nation's president and vice president during their travel inside the country and beyond its borders, other countries’ leaders visiting the United States. The United States Secret Service conducts financial investigations.
The parties stressed the importance of signing a bilateral agreement on mutual assistance with the development of a mechanism to accelerate the process of interaction and information sharing, and also an agreement on mutual extradition of persons committing crimes.
