Belarus interested in intensifying parliamentary ties with Pakistan

Belarus interested in intensifying parliamentary ties with Pakistan

MINSK, 16 February (BelTA) – MPs are playing an increasingly important role today, Chairwoman of the Council of the Republic Natalya Kochanova said during a meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to the Republic of Belarus Sajjad Haider Khan, BelTA has learned.

"Inter-parliamentary cooperation between our countries is very important for us. It always serves as a reliable guarantor of the good interstate relations between our countries. The National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus has a working group on cooperation with Pakistan. We hope that the similar working group will resume work in the Parliament of Pakistan soon (we will count on it)," Natalya Kochanova said.

The role of MPs in the modern world is greatly increasing, the speaker noted. "We are grateful to the Pakistani side for inviting the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus to take part in the anniversary events that will be held on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Parliament of Pakistan and the climate change conference to be held in March. We are considering the participation in these events. Thank you for the invitation. For our part, we will be glad to welcome MPs of Pakistan to our country in order to resume the good, friendly relations our MPs enjoyed," she added.
