MINSK, 14 August (BelTA) – Belarus is in favor of a peaceful resolution of the situation in Venezuela. The press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs made the statement for the Prensa Latina news agency after U.S. President Donald Trump mentioned the possibility of staging a military operation in Venezuela, BelTA has learned.

The statement reads that Belarus tracks the situation around Venezuela with concern and compassion.

The Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said: “We have repeatedly stated that all the problems and disputes in the Venezuelan society just like in any other country should be resolved only through a peaceful dialogue within the legal framework and the Constitution. We are convinced that the Venezuelan nation is capable of handling the emerging difficulties on its own and of resolving the situation by democratic means without outside interference, particularly without military force. Belarus has always been in favor of resolving any conflicts by peaceful means only in strict compliance with goals and principles of the UN Charter.”
