Belarus, Hungary sign memorandum of cooperation in power industry

MINSK, 5 June (BelTA) – The Energy Ministry of Belarus and the Hungary Prime Minister’s Office in Power Industry signed a memorandum of cooperation in Minsk on 5 June during the official visit of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban to Belarus, BelTA has learned.

The memorandum was signed by Energy Minister Viktor Karankevich and Janos Suli, Minister without Portfolio responsible for the Paks project.

According to the press service of the Energy Ministry, the document reinforces the mutual interest of Belarus and Hungary in cooperation in the nuclear energy sector and aims to develop contacts between organizations, whose activities are related to the construction of nuclear energy facilities and infrastructure. Plans are also in place to exchange the best practices in the operation of nuclear power plants, storage and disposal of radioactive waste. The memorandum provides for various forms of cooperation, including the establishment of joint ventures to participate in power industry investment projects. The parties also agreed to develop partnership on technical support and exchange of specialists.

“Belarus considers Hungary as a promising partner and is ready to take part in the project on the construction of two NPP units by Rosatom Corporation in Hungary. Belarusian builders and power engineers have the necessary experience and knowledge for this,” said the press service of the Energy Ministry.

The Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Belarus and Hungary signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in diplomatic training and exchange of information and documentation. The memorandum of understanding was signed between the National Center for Marketing and Price Study of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus and the Hungarian Agency for Export Promotion. The documents were signed by Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei and Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Peter Szijjarto.

The memorandum of understanding between the Agriculture and Food Ministry of Belarus and the Hungarian Ministry of Agriculture on cooperation in poultry breeding was signed by Agriculture and Food Minister of Belarus Ivan Krupko and Peter Szijjarto.
