Belarus hopes for Poland’s support in trade liberalization with EU

MINSK, 25 October (BelTA) – Poland could support the initiatives on liberalizing the trade regime between the EU and Belarus in the EU structures, Belarus’ Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Evgeny Shestakov said at the 5th meeting of the Belarusian-Polish working group on trade and investment on 25 October. The working group is part of the Belarus-Polish joint commission on economic cooperation, BelTA has learned.

“We are ready to offer a lot of things to Polish partners. We would also like to count on Poland’s readiness to meet us halfway. For example, our Polish counterparts could support the initiatives on liberalizing the EU trade regime with our country in the EU structures,” Evgeny Shestakov said.

In his words, the reduction of the duty on Belarusian wood-based plate materials would have the most favorable effect on the cost of furniture produced in Poland. This would benefit both the Belarusian and Polish economies. "Professionals can cite a lot of such examples,” the deputy minister added.
