MINSK, 14 April (BelTA) - A Belarusian government delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Karankevich has left for Zimbabwe, the press service of the Belarusian government told BelTA.

The visit program includes negotiations with Zimbabwe's President Emmerson Mnangagwa and in-depth discussions covering virtually the entire spectrum of bilateral relations, including joint Belarusian-Zimbabwean projects. It is planned to hold a session of the Belarusian-Zimbabwean joint permanent commission on cooperation and a meeting of the working group on agriculture to explore new avenues for expanding cooperation between the two countries and discuss promising agricultural projects and the expansion of the legal framework. The transfer of Belarusian machinery is expected within the third phase of Zimbabwe’s agricultural mechanization program, overseen by both countries' leaders. The delegation is set to hold talks with representatives of Zimbabwe's business community.

"The main goal of our visit is to identify new areas of cooperation and assess the progress of previously reached agreements. Belarus and Zimbabwe have mutual interests in the supply of food products and raw materials, and in cooperation in education, healthcare, science, technology, petrochemicals and waste management. The potential for bilateral cooperation is immense, and the open and direct contacts between the two countries will allow us to fully realize it," Viktor Karankevich emphasized.

The government delegation will commence its work on 15 April.
